Special Educational Needs Consultancy Services
Ellern Mede’s Special Educational Needs Consultancy Service advises and supports schools, local authorities, commissioners and parents to help them meet the needs of children and young people who self-exclude from school.
We recognise that there are many children and young people who, for a variety of reasons, may benefit from a therapeutic education, for example, young people who are struggling with mental illness, anxiety, school phobia, and trauma and bullying.
Our specialist teaching staff use their expertise with young people who have a wide range of mental illnesses, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia, anxiety, depression and OCD to mention a few. They can both advise and implement strategies to support learners in a variety of settings.
Our consultants work with schools to assess the young person’s special educational needs. We can review the existing approach and contribute to the processes of assessment, planning and implementation of a more effective approach to support and learning.
Ellern Mede Special Educational Needs Consultants offer:
In partnership with other professionals, parents, children and young people, we can help parents to apply for a statutory assessment for their child.
The support provided is based on robust and detailed processes developed from over many years of experience.
Many of the children and young people receive an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP) outlining their special needs and how best to support them to access learning despite of the mental health barriers from which they are suffering. We can also provide support for the parents and their children through the annual review process should they already have an EHCP.
